
Additional Terms for Musicians’ Union Members
Musicians’ Union Tax Helpline – Terms of Use
These additional terms apply to Musicians’ Union Members who access tax advice services provided by Orpheus Accounting Ltd trading as Musicians’ Tax Advisor (“MTA”) through the Musicians’ Union Tax Helpline.
These terms operate in addition to the general Terms and Privacy Policy available here. By submitting a query to the Musicians’ Union Tax Helpline, you agree to these additional terms.
1. Eligibility
The Musicians’ Union Tax Helpline is available only to:

Individuals who are current members of the Musicians’ Union, and
-
Who are in good standing with the Union.
Access to the helpline may require confirmation of membership status via the Musicians’ Union systems.
If membership cannot be verified, Musicians’ Tax Advisor reserves the right not to provide the service.
2. Nature of the Service
The Musicians’ Union Tax Helpline provides general tax information and guidance relevant to professional musicians.
The service may include:

Responses to written queries
-
Scheduled video or telephone consultations
-
Guidance materials or resources
All advice is based solely on the information provided by the Member at the time of the request.
The service does not constitute ongoing tax advisory, accounting, or representation services unless separately agreed in writing.
3. Submitting a Query
Members must submit their requests for advice using the official Musicians’ Union online helpline form.
Musicians’ Tax Advisor is not obliged to respond to requests submitted through any other method, including email, social media, or telephone without prior booking.
Response times are not guaranteed, although Musicians’ Tax Advisor will use reasonable endeavours to respond within 72 hours during normal business days.
4. Scope of the Helpline
The helpline is intended to address general tax questions relating to musicians’ work and professional activities.
It is not designed to provide:

Detailed tax planning

Full tax return preparation
-
Ongoing advisory services
-
Representation before HMRC
-
Complex cross-border structuring advice
If a query falls outside the scope of the helpline, the Member may be offered the option to engage Musicians’ Tax Advisor privately under a separate agreement.
5. Member Responsibilities
Members agree that they will:

Provide accurate and complete information
-
Not rely on the helpline for urgent tax deadlines
-
Seek independent professional advice where necessary
-
Ensure that they understand the limitations of guidance provided.
Musicians’ Tax Advisor shall not be responsible for any issues arising from incomplete, inaccurate, or misleading information supplied by the Member.
6. Intellectual Property
All written responses, guidance materials, resources, and other content provided through the helpline remain the intellectual property of Musicians’ Tax Advisor.
Members may use this information for their own professional purposes only.
Members must not:

reproduce
-
publish
-
share
-
distribute
-
sell
any helpline materials or advice without prior written permission from Musicians’ Tax Advisor.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Musicians’ Tax Advisor shall not be liable to the Musicians’ Union or to any Member for any consequential, indirect, or special loss, including but not limited to:

loss of profit
-
loss of revenue
-
loss or corruption of data
-
loss or corruption of software or systems
-
loss or damage to equipment
-
loss of use
-
loss of production
-
loss of contract
-
loss of commercial opportunity
-
loss of savings, discount or rebate (whether actual or anticipated)
-
harm to reputation or loss of goodwill
-
loss of business
-
wasted expenditure.
Musicians’ Tax Advisor shall also not be liable for any losses arising from acts or omissions of the Musicians’ Union or its Members, including any failure by a Member to follow advice provided.
Nothing in these terms shall limit liability for:

Death or personal injury caused by negligence
-
Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
-
Any liability which cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. No Client Relationship
Use of the Musicians’ Union Tax Helpline does not create an ongoing accountant-client relationship between the Member and Musicians’ Tax Advisor.
Any such relationship can only arise through a separate written engagement agreement.
9. Confidentiality
Information shared by Members through the helpline will be treated as confidential and handled in accordance with applicable data protection legislation and the Musicians’ Tax Advisor Privacy Policy.
However, Musicians’ Tax Advisor may discuss queries in anonymised form for educational or training purposes.
10. Changes to the Service
Musicians’ Tax Advisor reserves the right to:

Amend these terms
-
Update the helpline process
-
Modify the scope of the service
where required by law, operational changes, or agreement with the Musicians’ Union.
11. Governing Law
These terms shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes shall fall within the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
