About

IF YOU ARE A MEMBER OF THE MUSICIANS' UNION - these videos are available as part of your membership, behind the paywall of the MU website in the Working Overseas section. This is a 3 part video guide to working overseas as a UK resident freelance musician. We cover the following topics: 1 - General introduction to working overseas, focusing on withholding tax and how it impacts UK based musicians. What you can do to minimise the amount of withholding you are subject to, and how to recover that withholding tax paid on your UK tax return. 2 - A1's how to apply for a short term A1, used for a specific engagement in the EU or EEA and how to apply for the "2 year A1" which enables you to work throughout the EU and EEA for a 2 year period from the start date of your A1. We cover the differences between the two and how to apply. 3 - Certificates of Residency - why these are required, what they are confirming to your overseas promoter and how to apply. You can watch 1 or all of the videos. We recommend that if you are watching all 3, you do so in the order listed above.
